Swizzels Matlow is a family-owned confectionery manufacturer with a heritage going back to 1928. Founded by brothers Maurice and Alfred Matlow, it began with jelly sweets in London, later merging with another sweet maker, and eventually relocating during the Second World War to New Mills, Derbyshire, where it continues operations today.

Swizzels is famous for creating beloved sweets that span generations. Flagship brands include Love Hearts, Drumstick lollies, Parma Violets, Refreshers, Rainbow Drops, Double Dip, Squashies and others. These treats are known for combining nostalgic flavour with fun, vivid packaging and enduring recipes.

The company emphasises innovation alongside tradition. It has removed hydrogenated fats and artificial flavourings in past years, launched new product lines (such as marshmallow pieces and flavour variations), and continues to adapt to changing consumer tastes while maintaining its classic sweets.

Swizzels operates one large manufacturing facility in New Mills, which runs continuously to meet demand. The business remains one of the UK’s largest independent confectionery makers, with deep roots in British sweet culture and strong recognition among consumers of all ages.
